Women's Ministry

- Encouraging spiritual growth among women
- Promoting family life, prayer, benevolence, evangelism, involvement in social concerns and
involvement in home and world missions. Practical applications include: sponsoring
Mother/Daughter Banquet and our church’s Christmas Banquet, sponsoring a new members
reception for new church members, sponsoring a food pantry and clothes closet, providing
food and gift baskets during the holidays, sponsoring Sanctity of Life Sunday each
January, sponsoring at least three world mission projects throughout the year and
providing support to the Church of God Home for Children.
- Providing social opportunities for women in our local church through monthly meetings that
include fellowship, food and devotions, annual retreats, a secret pal program bible
studies and prayer.
- Providing spiritual and practical training to our young girls by sponsoring a weekly Girls
Club.
From the Official
Women's Ministry Website:
Women have been a vital part of the ongoing ministry of the Church of God since its humble
beginnings in the rugged Unicoi Mountains. Their ministries now reach around the world
with a multiplicity of emphases and focuses…including prayer, Bible study, local and world
missions, covenant team ministry (providing assistance to mission states and regions),
benevolence, prison outreach, ministry to both young girls and senior adults,
fund-raising, printed resource materials, and social issues that affect women.
Women’s Ministries endeavors to create an atmosphere where women can realize spiritual
maturity and fellowship, develop their leadership skills, and minister in the local
church, their community and the world.
Dedicated women are making a significant difference in their world by their commitment to
devote their time, talents and finances to promote the goals enunciated in the Women’s
Ministries statement of purpose.
Women are encouraged to accept their responsibility as women of God who will offer
themselves as living sacrifices, acceptable and pleasing to God; be devoted to one
another in love, honoring one another above themselves; serve God and their church with
zeal, keeping their spiritual fervor; joyfully hope; be patient in affliction and faithful
in prayer; share with God’s people who are in need; and practice hospitality. The verses
found in Romans 12:1, 10-13 are the foundations for these aspirations. Women are also
encouraged to be committed to teaching the younger women, as outlined in Titus 2:4.
For I know the plans I have for you,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me,
and I will listen to you.
You will seek Me and find Me,
when you seek Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
